It's the chase


Sometimes there's just a kick in your stomach
that was what you needed to get started


a pair of grey eyes
that boosts you full of energy


(and some sugar)


makes you talk, smile, joke
show off the confidence
you didn't know you had


it's mean, and you know it
someone will get hurt if you persist


but that's the thrill, isn't it?


you know you'll never get what you're chasing
but it isn't the point either
