The eco trend

A Kate Moss favorite: Natural Magic Organic Treatment Candle

There's no question about it, the eco trend has come to stay. This is relatively new in Oslo, but it's a fast growing market. With stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Moss to lead the way, ecological products have started to enter normal people's lives as well. And really, why shouldn't we love it? These products care about the environment as well as they care about to us!

The ecological Gimle Parfymeri in Oslo

In Oslo, this is really is a new thing. We've had ecological food for a while, but around six months ago the first ecological cosmetic shop opened. And by now there's also an ecological hair dresser! I really hope this continues. After living in France I have become an eco chic! And I'm not alone. In Copenhagen there are eco shops everywhere, and in London there's even an eco night club (whom it's actually rumored that Kate Moss was attending the opening night).

Item of the day: French key chain

The last couple of days I've been thinking about France a lot. I miss living there so much! I miss speaking French, seeing French people (French kids are the cutest ever!), eating French food (yum yum), shopping in French stores, coffee in French coffee houses, and I even miss the creepy old French guys who've had to much to drink. I will come back there next year! In the meantime I'm going to dedicate another post to Paris, the city of lights!

This key chain is something I bought my last time in Paris from a little flea market right outside our house. I don't know when they were made, but they look like small commercials from some ancient decade. One of them is a butter brand; the other is shaped like France and has a picture of "Tour de France" on it.

Norway's Next Top Model

Yesterday was the norwegian Top Model final. Even though I'm not really a fan of the Top Model concept, I have to say I enjoyed watching this season and I was curious to see who would be the winner. After everyone's clear favorite, Frøydis, decided to quit because of health problems, there were only two girls left in the final that took place in NYC.

Finalists Martine and Marita

These girls are both really pretty and special in different ways; Marita is more of the runway type, but could still do any sort of fashion campaign, while Marita is the beauty shot face with her gorgeous eyes, and some of the judges said she would sell lipstick like nobody has ever done.

Although Martine has been a personal favorite of mine for a couple of weeks, I have to say I was pretty uncertain of who was going to win. Marita did really well this time, and I think she is more of the model they would want; she is more of an all-rounder and much better at walking than Martine. But, the Trump Models agency and the rest of the judges finally decided Martine has the most potential and declared her the winner of Top Model 2008 :D

Here are some her photos:

Street fashion

I'm so sorry for not posting anything this last week! I don't really have an excuse either... Anyway, this time I thought I'd write about street fashion! I've seen a lot of other bloggers and magazines talk about it lately (this blog about old people's street style is really the coolest thing I've seen in a long time: http://advancedstyle.blogspot.com/), so I thought I might show some of my own stuff.

I think street fashion is underestimated. When you think about it, it's really the heart of the fashion industry. Designers make clothes for us, get inspired by us, and also depend on us to buy and wear their stuff. Fashion is all about us.
I took these photos sitting on a Starbucks in 4e arrondissement in Paris. The guy on the last photo totally saw me, and gave me a big smile just after I'd taken his photo.

Tribute of the day: Siren Lauvdal

I'm introducing a new thing to our blog today, the tribute of the day. This doesn't have much to do with Kate Moss because I'm basically going to write about Norwegian artist, designers, photographers, models, stylist or other people. That's because these are the people that I know, or know something about. There's no point to blog about stuff you don't know because then you got nothing new and interesting to say. And besides, there are a lot of talented Norwegians out there that could use a little publicity!

So, this tribute of the day goes to the photographer Siren Lauvdal. She comes from one of the smaller Norwegian cities, Kristiansand. She's been studying photography, and have been working all over the globe such as San Francisco and South Africa. She's mainly a fashion photographer, and lately she's done series for magazines such as Costume, Elle and Inside. She's also really nice as a person, and makes even the new up and coming models look good. She actually did my very first pictures, and the result was really cool! But I'm not going to show those photos. In these pictures we see Kine Irgens, Lisa Svartdal, Marie Koren and another girl I don't know (but I loved the picture). These fabulous and funny girls might deserve their own tribute, but that will have to be another day. Voilà, some photos of Siren Lauvdal. I'm gonna stop writing now because as we all know a pictures say more then thousand words.

Kate Moss for Topshop

Kate Moss' collection for Topshop has now been out in stores for almost 2 weeks, and we must say we like it! Her collection consists of a number of dresses (including a beatutiful dress called 'prom dress'), tops (e.g. with a picture of herself all over), pants (wide-legged!), coats (a lot of fur) and accessories. Items can be bought online at www.topshop.com but hurry; a lot of sizes are already sold out. Anyways, with these incredible Kate Moss garments we have a bright Christmas ahead! As we say in Norway; run and buy!

Treasurehunting in the attic

Went up in my attic a couple of days ago, and this is what I found; a real vintage winter jacket from the 80-s! My mum and I discussed it, first we thought it belonged to my father, but then we saw the label saying x-small and agreed upon that it has to have been my grandmother's. Anyways it is extremely cool (at least I think so..!) and after going through heavy treatment, including being washed with a tennis shoe in the machine, it is now ready for use. I'm actually really looking forward to the dark norwegian winter now I can walk around shining in this flashy, blue treasure of a jacket.

Kate Moss book

I didn't plan to post anything to day because I got loads of work to do. But then I heard something very interesting... Something that just had to be posted in our blog immediately. On the 2. October a book about the Kate Moss style were published. And I didn't know about it before now.. What a shame! Anyway, the book is called "Kate Moss Style" and it's written by Angela Buttolph. She is a fashion journalist that has written stuff in every major fashion magazine from Vouge to i-D. There's also numerous contributors such as Karl Lagerfeld, Tom Ford, Manolo Blahnik, Donna Karan, Domenico Dolce Stefano Gabbana (Dolce & Gabbana), Matthew Williamson, Kelly Osbourne, Britt Ekland, Katie Grand and Marc Jacobs. This is bound to be good! Gotta buy this book as soon as possible!

Fact!

Finding out what kind of products Kate Moss is using is not an easy job! Every magazine, blog, store or friend tell you something different. But I consider this information reliable because I got this story from my boss. She told me that Kate Moss actually sent a letter to Penhaligon's telling them that whatever the magazines were writing, "Bluebell" is her signature fragrance! And with citrus as its head notes, flowers as its hart note and also a hint of cinnamon, this really is one of my favorite fragrances too. It's one of a kind.

Outfit of the day

It's week-end! My busy everyday life takes a break, and I get to meet up with friends, read magazines, do some shopping, relax and most importantly, update my blog! Here I've shown you my outfit of the day. I know black is supposed to be the color of this season, but when it's always cold, rainy and grey outside you need some color on your clothes! With my love for Paris during the fall and a deliciously light and colorful Lacoste ad on my mind, I came up with this outfit. Warm, chic and just the colors I need on rainy day like this.
Hat: vintage
Jacket: Knitted by my great grandmother
Top: H&M
Purple tights: H&M
Bag: Vintage
Boots: Nilson
Umbrella: Deli de Luca

Dress favourite

With this incredible garment, it was just love at first sight. It is a vintage Budweiser dress from New York, that we discovered au Salon du Vintage during Paris Fashion Week 2008. Classy, fashionable, but not too glamorous; this is a piece of heaven that looks as good as a party dress as with a leather jacket and some nice boots. Since it's extremely tight and small, being the only ones who could wear it, we got it half price! Kate Moss would absolutely adore it, really - who wouldn't?

Kate Moss in british Vogue

Only a couple of hours ago, British Vogue december came to stores in Norway. And guess who's at the cover??? Even though she featured British Vogue only three months ago, she's back. This time in Dior couture. And she looks stunning as always.

Politics and fashion

This is the day we have all been waiting for.. All attention is glued to America for the moment. Normally there's a gap between politics and fashion. But this is apparently about to change. I got these two images from an article in the newspaper the telegraph. The dresses are made by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Sonia Rykiel and seen at Paris Fashion Week. If I could I'd vote for Obama like these designers want us to do. In Norway we get the result of the election during the night, so I'm gonna be really curious when I wake up tomorrow morning... Go Obama!

Poem of the day

It's the chase

Sometimes there's just a kick in your stomach
that was what you needed to get started

a pair of grey eyes
that boosts you full of energy

(and some sugar)

makes you talk, smile, joke
show off the confidence
you didn't know you had

it's mean, and you know it
someone will get hurt if you persist

but that's the thrill, isn't it?

you know you'll never get what you're chasing
but it isn't the point either

Item of the day

I seriously doubt that Kate Moss would find the time to knit by her self, but I'm sure she's got a knitted scarf. And so do I! And I even knitted it with my own two hands. November is such a cold and grey moth, but thanks to this scarf I'm neither grey nor cold any more!

This unique piece of jewlery is made by the Norwgian artist Camilla Prytz. She does amazying glass art combined with silver. It looks sweet but still cool. I love the idea of love having wings. However, these pieces are not cheap... My pale skin is therefore very gratefull to be able to wear it. Thank you C!
